Ghana-Nigeria centre-back Abdul Mumin, currently without a club after leaving Rayo Vallecano, is being linked with a move to La Liga side Getafe. The 28-year-old defender, who has a market valuation of around €3 million, is understood to be on the Madrid club’s shortlist as they look to reinforce their options at the heart of defence.
Mumin became a free agent on 1 July 2026 following his departure from Rayo, putting him in a position to negotiate a move without a transfer fee. Getafe’s interest comes as they explore cost-effective defensive additions within the Spanish market, with Mumin’s recent top-flight experience regarded as a key attraction.
Born in Accra on 6 June 1998 and standing at 1.88m, the right-footed centre-back first established himself in European football with FC Nordsjaelland before moving to Vitoria Guimaraes in 2020. His performances in Portugal earned him a €1.5 million move to Rayo Vallecano in September 2022, where he gained experience in La Liga prior to his contract running down this summer.
Mumin holds both Ghanaian and Nigerian nationality and has been part of a development path that included a spell at the Right to Dream academy before his move to Denmark as a teenager. His blend of Spanish, Portuguese and Danish league experience is seen as fitting the profile of defender Getafe are currently considering.
Talks are yet to be finalised, but with Mumin unattached and available immediately, his contractual freedom is expected to be a central factor in any potential agreement.
