CAF Confederation Cup : Al Ahly face Raja CA, ASKO de Kara and 1º de Agosto in Group A draw

Egyptian giants Al Ahly have been paired with Moroccan side Raja CA, Togo’s ASKO de Kara and Angola’s 1º de Agosto in Group A of the  2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup group-stage draw.

The proposed line-up brings together four clubs from different footballing backgrounds, with each targeting progression to the knockout stages.

Al Ahly would enter the group as one of the leading contenders given their history and success in African club football. The Egyptian side would face a stern test against Raja CA, a Moroccan club with extensive continental experience and ambitions of their own.

A meeting between the two North African sides would be one of the group’s standout fixtures, with both clubs seeking to establish early control of the qualification race.

ASKO de Kara would represent Togo, aiming to compete against two of the region’s best-known clubs while collecting valuable points throughout the group stage. Consistency and defensive organisation would be important if the Togolese side are to challenge for progression.

Angola’s 1º de Agosto would also look to make their mark. The club would view the campaign as an opportunity to test themselves against established continental opposition and strengthen their profile in African football.

With four teams competing for two qualification places, every match would carry significance. Strong home performances and the ability to earn points away from home could prove decisive as the group stage unfolds.
