Patrick Maswanganyi linked with early departure from Al Khaldiya

Patrick Maswanganyi has been linked with an early exit from Al Khaldiya after making only two appearances for the Bahrain club since leaving Orlando Pirates at the start of the current season.

The 28-year-old midfielder, widely known as Tito, joined Al Khaldiya after establishing himself as an important player for Orlando Pirates over the past few seasons.

Maswanganyi made a positive start to life in Bahrain, but has since struggled to secure regular playing time. The club’s technical team has reportedly preferred other options in his position, limiting his opportunities across all competitions.

Media reports have suggested that concerns over Maswanganyi’s off-field behaviour have also led Al Khaldiya’s management to consider ending his stay at the club.

His two appearances represent a significant reduction in involvement compared with his role at Orlando Pirates, where he was a regular contributor before making the move abroad.

During his time with Orlando Pirates, Maswanganyi played 120 official matches, scoring 28 goals and providing 20 assists.

His transfer to Al Khaldiya had surprised many, given the influence he had developed at Orlando Pirates in the seasons before his departure. However, he has found it difficult to reproduce that level of involvement since joining the Bahrain side.

The reports of a possible exit come early in Maswanganyi’s time with Al Khaldiya, with his limited number of appearances and the club’s preference for other players contributing to uncertainty over his future.
