Serge Gnabry has rejected Dietmar Hamann’s suggestion that Bayern Munich rely too heavily on Michael Olise, insisting the German club have enough attacking options to influence matches without the France winger.
Former Germany international Hamann made the claim in a column after Bayern’s Champions League match against Viking. Olise was sent off during the game, leaving Bayern with 10 players before they eventually conceded an equaliser.
Hamann argued that Bayern had “few options” without Olise and said their dependence on him went beyond what would normally be expected of a leading club relying on one key player.
Gnabry disagreed with that assessment, according to Germany’s Bild. He said the outcome of an attack could not be attributed to one player alone and stressed that Bayern had several forwards capable of changing the course of a match.
The Germany international also indicated that Bayern’s attacking approach was not built entirely around Olise, despite the winger’s importance to the team.
Bayern now face Arsenal in a crucial Champions League fixture, with Olise unavailable after his suspension. His absence means Bayern will have to adjust their attacking setup for the match.
