Champions League betting tips: Guirassy, City and Inter among the top picks for 20 and 21 October

Arthur Wandji, a sports-betting expert and Cameroonian journalist, has selected four Champions League matches for a series of betting recommendations on 20 and 21 October. The suggested bets include Serhou Guirassy to score for Borussia Dortmund, a 2-0 scoreline during Manchester City’s match with AEK Athens, an Inter Milan win by the same score against Shakhtar Donetsk, and more than 10.5 corners in Real Madrid’s meeting with RB Leipzig.

Sabah v Borussia Dortmund

Betting option: Serhou Guirassy to score (odds: 1.60)

Borussia Dortmund travel to Baku to face Sabah in the third round of the Champions League on Tuesday, with Serhou Guirassy identified as their main attacking threat.

The Guinea striker has scored four goals across the two competitions this season, with two in the Bundesliga and two in the Champions League. Dortmund have gone three matches without a win, although they have suffered only one away defeat this season.

Sabah have scored 14 goals across their five European home victories. That record, combined with Dortmund’s defensive vulnerability away from home in the Champions League, means caution is advised. However, Guirassy’s consistency in front of goal supports the selection of the striker to score.

Manchester City v AEK Athens

Betting option: 2-0 at some point during the match (odds: 1.40)

Manchester City host AEK Athens after beating Ipswich 3-2 in the league, a result that extended their run to seven consecutive Premier League wins since the start of the season.

The English club have won 12 of their past 15 European home matches against sides from leagues outside the top five, without losing any of those games.

AEK, meanwhile, were beaten 3-1 by Shakhtar in their previous match and have not won any of their past 19 away fixtures in the Champions League. That sequence includes six draws and 13 defeats.

City’s superiority points towards a controlled victory, with the recommended outcome being for the hosts to lead 2-0 during the match.

Inter Milan v Shakhtar Donetsk

Betting option: Inter Milan to win 2-0 (odds: 8.00)

Inter Milan need a response after losing both of their opening two Champions League fixtures, despite scoring four goals in those matches. The Nerazzurri have lost their past four games in the competition.

Their home record since December is stronger, however, with 16 wins, three draws and four defeats. Shakhtar Donetsk have taken four points from two matches and won 10 of their 12 official games this season, but they have failed to win in each of their past seven Champions League away fixtures.

Inter will be without Lautaro Martinez, Curtis Jones and Benjamin Pavard, which weakens the side to an extent. Even so, the need to secure a first victory is considered a reason to back a 2-0 win for the Italian club.

Real Madrid v RB Leipzig

Betting option: more than 10.5 corners (odds: 1.61)

Real Madrid welcome RB Leipzig after three successive victories, including a 4-1 win against Sevilla. Their first two Champions League matches have already produced seven goals between them.

The Spanish side have scored in each of their past 44 home games in the competition. Arda Guler also provided two assists against Roma before scoring against Sevilla.

Leipzig have lost their last four away matches and conceded 15 goals during that run. Four of their past five matches have also featured more than 13 corners, suggesting the game could contain repeated attacking phases and reach a total of 11 corners.

Odds may change.
