Paris Saint-Germain supporters in Ouagadougou back their side to overcome Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain supporters in Ouagadougou believe their team has a strong chance of beating FC Barcelona in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League meeting at the Parc des Princes.

The match, which is the third game of the league phase, starts at 19:00 Burkina Faso time on 20 October 2026. While the supporters recognise the quality and current form of the Catalan side, their views largely converge on one point: Paris Saint-Germain have enough strength to compete and win.

Christian Narcisse Hien says Paris Saint-Germain should not be intimidated by Barcelona’s recent performances. He points to last season’s Champions League campaign, when many observers underestimated the French club before their semi-final against Bayern Munich.

“For me, PSG have no reason to fear Barcelona, even if they are in very good form,” he said.

“Every observer expected Bayern to make short work of PSG. The reality was shown on the pitch.”

Hien believes both teams have convincing arguments but gives Paris Saint-Germain the edge.

“It is 50-50, but the balance is more in PSG’s favour. This is Paris!” he added.

Brahima Sidibe is less certain about the outcome. He believes Paris Saint-Germain can disrupt Barcelona’s rhythm, but expects the match to produce plenty of goals.

“Anything is possible in this game. If there is one team capable of stopping the Catalan machine at the moment, I think it is us,” he said.

However, Sidibe is also wary of Barcelona’s long winning run and cannot see them easily losing their momentum.

“With a little objectivity and realism, I find it difficult to see Barcelona ending their run of 11 victories with a defeat,” he said.

“For that reason, I am predicting a draw with lots of goals: 3-3 or 2-2. Nothing can be ruled out.”

Tactical battle

Issiaka Sanou focused on the individual qualities that could shape the contest. He believes the form of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue could have a major influence on Paris Saint-Germain’s attacking threat.

“If Kvaratskhelia and Doue are on their game, PSG will score a lot of goals tomorrow,” he said.

Sanou nevertheless warned that Barcelona possess significant technical ability in midfield. He identified Pedri and Rodri as key players and highlighted their potential understanding with Lamine Yamal.

“Barcelona have a major asset in midfield with Pedri and Rodri. If they connect well with Yamal, it could cause a lot of damage,” he said.

In his view, Paris Saint-Germain must control the centre of the pitch and make effective use of the spaces available to them.

Ousmane Drabo’s confidence comes from the club’s recent European form, particularly their 4-2 victory over Manchester City on 14 October.

“Anything can happen in football. Otherwise, City were in good form when PSG travelled there. Anything is possible,” he said.

Drabo said he had watched the match again and was especially impressed by Paris Saint-Germain’s midfield.

“I watched the game against City again, wow! PSG’s midfield was monstrous. If they do the same thing again, Barcelona are finished.”

The supporters in Ouagadougou are therefore approaching the Parc des Princes contest with confidence, while remaining aware of Barcelona’s strengths. Their predictions differ, but all are hoping Paris Saint-Germain can meet the challenge and underline their European ambitions.
