Milan’s efforts to appoint Markus Krosche as their new Head of Football are continuing, but a potential compensation payment to Eintracht Frankfurt could threaten the deal.
According to GianlucaDiMarzio.com, citing Sky Sport Deutschland, Milan would need to pay between €5m and €7m to bring Krosche to the club before summer 2027.
Although Eintracht Frankfurt relieved the 46-year-old of his duties at his own request on Sunday, his contract remains in force until June 2028. Sportmediaset reports that Milan are unwilling to pay compensation for his appointment.
Krosche is also seeking a broader management structure around him rather than taking on a conventional sporting director role. He wants to continue working with his own team, potentially including Timmo Hardung.
Hardung has been described as Krosche’s right-hand man during their time together at RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt. However, Affaritaliani reports that Hardung is expected to remain in Germany.
This is Milan’s second attempt to secure Krosche’s services. Gerry Cardinale reached a verbal agreement with the German during the summer, but Eintracht Frankfurt blocked the move.
Krosche joined Eintracht from RB Leipzig in 2021 and helped the club win the Europa League the following year. He also established a reputation for selling players for significant profits during his time in Frankfurt.
