Udinese consider Kosta Runjaic future after fifth straight Serie A defeat

Udinese are reviewing Kosta Runjaic’s position as head coach after Sunday’s 3-0 home defeat by Lecce left the club with five consecutive Serie A losses.

Lecce secured victory at the Stadio Friuli through goals from Kialonda Gaspar, Konan N’Dri and Jamil Siebert. The result leaves Udinese with four points from their opening seven matches of the 2026-27 season and puts them at risk of entering the relegation zone by the end of the weekend.

Udinese had already lost to Torino, Cagliari, Inter and Lazio in the weeks before Lecce’s visit. That sequence has placed Runjaic under increasing pressure, with the club now assessing whether he should remain in charge.

Reports from Gianluca Di Marzio said Udinese began evaluating Runjaic’s future almost immediately after the final whistle on Sunday. However, the club is not expected to take a quick decision in the aftermath of the defeat, with discussions about the head coach’s position now under way.

Runjaic has been Udinese’s head coach since the beginning of the 2024-25 season. He guided the team to 12th place in his first campaign and followed that with a 10th-place finish last term.

According to TMW, Udinese already have two possible replacements in mind should Runjaic lose his job in the near future: Thiago Motta and Paolo Zanetti.
