Iraola explains Frimpong and Szoboszlai substitutions in Brentford win

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola addressed the decisions to replace Jeremie Frimpong and Dominik Szoboszlai during his side’s 2-1 victory over Brentford in the seventh round of the Premier League.

Frimpong was introduced at half-time but was taken off again only seven minutes later. The change came after the defender had returned to the pitch for the second half.

Szoboszlai’s involvement was also limited, with the midfielder playing 32 minutes of the first half before being substituted.

Iraola commented on both changes after Liverpool secured the three points against Brentford.

The result leaves Liverpool on 12 points and fifth in the Premier League table.

Liverpool’s next match is against Villarreal in the Champions League on 20 October.
