Al Ahli Tripoli take commanding CAF Confederation Cup lead with 4-0 away win

Al Ahli Tripoli put themselves in a strong position to reach the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup after winning 4-0 away to Welwalo Adigrat University on Friday.

The Libyan side made a fast start in the first leg of the second preliminary round, taking control with two goals inside the opening 21 minutes. Muaid Ellafi broke the deadlock in the 14th minute before Mohamed Amine Tougai extended the visitors’ advantage seven minutes later.

Al Ahli Tripoli continued to dominate after the interval and added two further goals to complete a convincing victory. The result strengthens the Libyan club’s position in this season’s continental campaign and gives them a substantial advantage ahead of the return fixture.

Welwalo Adigrat University now face a difficult task in the second leg. They will need an exceptional performance to overturn the four-goal deficit and keep their African campaign alive.
