CAF CL: Teungueth FC Host Colombe Sportive in Crucial First Leg

Teungueth FC will look to make home advantage count when they host Cameroon’s Colombe Sportive du Dja-et-Lobo in the first leg of their CAF Champions League second preliminary-round tie on Sunday, October 18.

The match will take place at the Stade Léopold Sédar-Senghor in Dakar, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00 GMT. Both sides are targeting a positive result to strengthen their chances of reaching the group stage ahead of the return leg.

Senegalese champions Teungueth enter the contest under coach Malick Daf after eliminating FC Canchungo in the previous round, winning both legs 1-0 to progress with a 2-0 aggregate victory.

Colombe, meanwhile, secured their place in the second round by overcoming Mali’s Stade Malien on penalties after both legs ended goalless.

Sunday’s encounter will be the first competitive meeting between the two clubs, adding further uncertainty to a tie in which neither side has an established head-to-head advantage.

Teungueth expected to rely on familiar core

Teungueth are expected to have their key players available, although the final team selection will depend on the coach’s assessment before kick-off.

Pape Dieng is tipped to start in goal, with Pa Diouf, Alassane Ly, Mouhamed Ndiaye and Moustapha Gueye forming the defensive line.

Ousmane Thiombane, Raphaël Ndong and Mame Diaw are expected to feature in midfield, while Patrick Basse, Mouhamed Diouf and Ibrahima Aidara could lead the attack.

Daf’s side will aim to establish control early and take an advantage into the second leg in Cameroon.

Colombe seek an important away result

Colombe travelled to Senegal after completing preparations in Cameroon, with coach Richard Towa hoping his players can build on their progress through the first preliminary round.

Edouard Sombang is expected to start in goal, behind a defence likely to include Akoh Anjeh, Atsiga, Moubarak Katawiri and Michel Junior Mbeleck.

Patrick Edzimbii, Randy Ntuwe, Arthur Yene and Jude Enow are tipped to feature in midfield, while Steeve Lima and Adam Musah are expected to lead the attack.

The Cameroonian champions will be eager to avoid defeat and, if possible, score an away goal to improve their position before the return fixture.

With a place in the Champions League group stage at stake, both teams face a significant test in Dakar. Teungueth will seek to use home support to gain the upper hand, while Colombe will aim to leave Senegal with a result that keeps qualification within reach.
