Morocco international Abde Ezzalzouli has been shortlisted for the Champions League Goal of the Round award after scoring a spectacular goal in Real Betis’ 3-2 victory over Porto.
The winger impressed during the second round of the competition with a curling finish that helped Betis secure an important win at La Cartuja stadium. The goal was also his first in the Champions League, marking a significant moment in his European campaign.
Ezzalzouli received the ball before producing a well-placed shot that beat the Porto goalkeeper and found the back of the net. His finish attracted attention for its technical quality and earned him a place among four players competing for the individual honour.
The Moroccan will face competition from Porto’s Samu, Feyenoord’s Geoffrey Zechel and Paris Saint-Germain forward Désiré Doué, who have also been nominated for the award.
The shortlist adds to an encouraging start to the season for Ezzalzouli, who has scored three goals in six appearances across competitions. His performances have strengthened his position as an important attacking option for Real Betis.
The goal against Porto was particularly significant because it came during a closely contested European match. Betis eventually claimed a 3-2 victory, with Ezzalzouli’s contribution helping the Spanish side overcome their Portuguese opponents.
For the Morocco international, the nomination offers further recognition of his growing influence at club level. His ability to create opportunities and produce decisive moments in attack has made him one of the players attracting attention during Betis’ European campaign.
Ezzalzouli’s latest achievement also comes as he continues to build his reputation beyond domestic competition. Scoring his first Champions League goal and earning a place on the Goal of the Round shortlist have given the winger fresh recognition on the continental stage.
The award nomination follows a performance that combined individual skill with an important contribution to his team’s result. Ezzalzouli will now compete with the other shortlisted players for recognition of the best goal scored during the round.
