Nuno Tavares scores Lazio’s furthest Serie A goal in seven years

Lazio continued their strong start to the Serie A season with a 3-1 victory over Monza in the sixth round of the Italian championship.

Nuno Tavares opened the scoring after just three minutes, finding the net with a long-range effort from 29.2 metres.

It was Lazio’s furthest goal in Serie A for seven years. The previous record had been set by Francesco Acerbi, who scored from 31.5 metres against Torino on 30 October 2019.

Gennaro Gattuso’s side will face Juventus in their next league fixture. The match against the Turin club is scheduled for Sunday, 18 October.
