Arsenal are assessing a potential move for Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso, although there is currently little indication that a deal is close.
Flashscore sources have played down the prospect of an imminent transfer, with people close to the situation in Italy seeing limited evidence of meaningful progress. However, Juventus are understood to be willing to consider offers for the 26-year-old, meaning the possibility of a future move could develop if Arsenal decide to make their interest more concrete.
Cambiaso’s versatility is thought to be one of the main reasons for Arsenal’s interest. He can play on either flank and also operate in midfield, offering the tactical flexibility valued by the Premier League club.
The Italy international has also attracted previous interest from Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona, underlining the reputation he has built among leading European clubs.
Juventus were prepared to sell Cambiaso during the summer as part of their financial considerations, but no agreement was reached. The club could be willing to revisit that position if an offer of about €30-35 million or more is made.
Cambiaso’s role under Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti may also influence the situation. Before an ankle injury disrupted his season, Spalletti had preferred to use Zeki Celik on the left side.
That choice does not necessarily represent a final assessment of Cambiaso’s position in the squad, but it has raised questions about his role under the Juventus coach. There is also a sense that Cambiaso’s performances have dipped slightly, which could make Juventus more receptive to a substantial offer than they might previously have been.
For Arsenal, however, the decision would depend on both the financial cost and the footballing value of the deal. Juventus being open to a sale does not mean the Gunners are ready to pursue the defender, and the current indications are that their interest remains at an early stage.
Cambiaso’s contract with Juventus runs until 2029, giving the Italian club significant control over any negotiations. That agreement could strengthen their position if Arsenal or another interested club makes an approach.
Even so, the possibility of a transfer is not difficult to envisage. Juventus have already considered selling Cambiaso, while interest from Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona means potential suitors are established. A suitable offer could therefore lead to further talks, despite there being no sign of an imminent move at present.
