Mamelodi Sundowns are expected to field a strong line-up when they face Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening, with Miguel Cardoso’s side aiming to stop their rivals’ recent dominance in cup competitions.
The final will be the first meeting between the two clubs this season. Sundowns will be seeking to add the MTN8 trophy to the silverware they have already won this campaign, while also gaining revenge for defeats by the Buccaneers in the Nedbank Cup and MTN8 during the 2023/24 season.
Captain Ronwen Williams is expected to retain his place in goal. Thabang Matuludi could start at right-back after Khuliso Mudau was ruled out through injury.
Grant Kekana is likely to partner Khulumani Ndamane in central defence, with Aubrey Modiba set to operate on the left side of the back four.
Teboho Mokoena and Marcelo Allende are expected to form the central midfield pairing. Nuno Santos could play in the attacking midfield position, linking the midfield with the forward line.
Antonio van Wyk is in contention to start on the right wing, while Tashreeq Matthews is expected to take up the position on the left.
Brayan Leon is likely to lead the attack as the Brazilians attempt to overcome Orlando Pirates and lift the MTN8 trophy.
Mamelodi Sundowns predicted XI against Orlando Pirates: Ronwen Williams; Thabang Matuludi, Grant Kekana, Khulumani Ndamane, Aubrey Modiba; Teboho Mokoena, Marcelo Allende; Antonio van Wyk, Nuno Santos, Tashreeq Matthews; Brayan Leon.
