AS Monaco will look to extend their unbeaten start to the 2026-27 Ligue 1 McDonald’s season when they host Toulouse FC at Stade Louis II on Saturday, 10 October at 18:45 GMT.
Monaco are the division’s only remaining unbeaten side after five matches and have taken four wins, including victories over Paris Saint-Germain, RC Lens and Olympique de Marseille. Their other result was a draw.
Filipe Luis’s team have relied on efficiency rather than sustained dominance. They have scored no more than two goals in any league match and have had more corners than their opponents only once. They have also never recorded more shots than the opposition, although their discipline has been consistent in one respect: Monaco have received at least one yellow card in every game.
Paris Brunner, joint-top scorer in the league with four goals, is suspended for the match. Midfielder Lamine Camara has been another notable performer, while Denis Zakaria and his team-mates will aim to prioritise the result after the international break.
Toulouse, who finished ninth last season, have made a less convincing start. They have drawn twice, lost twice and claimed one victory, a 3-2 home win over Le Havre immediately before the international break.
Their defence has conceded at least two goals in four of their five matches and has allowed at least one in every game. Toulouse have collected eight yellow cards across those fixtures, averaging more than 1.5 per match.
There are, however, attacking signs for Jens Askou’s side. Captain Cristian Casseres leads the competition for assists with four in five appearances, while Casper Tengstedt has scored three goals in his past two matches. Toulouse have scored at least twice in each of the three games in which they have found the net, and they have had more possession than their opponents in their last three outings.
Previous meetings and player to watch
Monaco have won 14 of the 29 meetings between the clubs since 2008, compared with five Toulouse victories and 10 draws. Toulouse have lost on their past two visits to Stade Louis II, but won the two before those, in June 2023 and February 2024. The last 0-0 draw between the sides came on 23 August 2013, also in Monaco.
Left-back Christ Tape is one of Toulouse’s early-season discoveries. The former CO Korhogo player joined from the Ivorian Ligue 1 three years ago and scored against Stade Brestois on the second matchday. That form earned him a first Ivory Coast call-up from manager Herve Renard. Tape started against Cameroon in an international friendly last Saturday, playing 45 encouraging minutes in a 0-1 defeat.
Nasser Eddy, a consultant for NCI Sport and presenter of the European Champions League on radio Nostalgie, has identified several betting possibilities. The draw is priced at 4.47, with a 2-2 score at 13. A result in which both teams score at least twice is 4.53, while more than 3.5 total cards is 1.8. Toulouse to win the corner count is 2.99 and Tengstedt to score at any time is 3.9.
Odds may change.
