Barcelona have begun preparations for the LaLiga home match against Getafe on October 10th with captain Raphinha still a doubt after returning early from Brazil duty as a precaution.
Most of Hansi Flick’s squad have now returned from international commitments, but the Barcelona manager continues to face uncertainty over two important players. Goalkeeper Joan Garcia remains unavailable after an injury prevented him from joining Spain’s squad, while Raphinha has not completed a full training session this week.
Neither player is expected to recover in time for Getafe’s visit to Catalonia. Flick is not prepared to take unnecessary risks, meaning Dominik Livakovic is set to continue deputising for Garcia.
Raphinha’s potential absence would be a significant concern for the defending Spanish champions. He has scored 14 goals in all competitions since the start of the season, helping Barcelona win each of their opening seven LaLiga matches.
Barcelona have also made a strong start in Europe, beginning their UEFA Champions League campaign with a 5-1 victory over Feyenoord.
With Raphinha doubtful, Gabriel Jesus could be given the opportunity to lead the attack in the No.9 role. It would be the Brazilian’s first start for Barcelona since joining the club, although he has already scored twice as a substitute.
Anthony Gordon and Dani Olmo are the other alternatives being considered by Flick if Raphinha is ruled out.
