Jude Bellingham and Morgan Rogers have both backed England captain Harry Kane to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or after England’s 3-0 victory over Czech Republic in the Nations League on Tuesday.
Kane scored twice at Wembley, including his 90th international goal, as England secured a convincing win. The result also saw the Bayern Munich striker equal Peter Shilton’s record for the most appearances for England, with both players having represented their country 125 times.
Bellingham, who is also among the leading contenders for the award, said Kane’s success came as no surprise to him.
“Nothing he does surprises me,” Bellingham said. “He is a great role model and a great person, and it is an honour to share the pitch with him. He deserves everything he gets because he works incredibly hard for it.”
Asked whether Kane could win the Ballon d’Or, the Real Madrid midfielder replied: “Yes, who knows? It is certainly possible.”
Rogers offered a more direct endorsement of Kane’s claim, pointing to the striker’s achievements for both club and country.
“Harry Kane should win the Ballon d’Or,” Rogers said. “He has gone beyond everything people imagined he was capable of doing… the hat-tricks, the goals at the World Cup and the goals with Bayern. What more can he do? He should be rewarded for that.”
Kane opened the scoring against Czech Republic after being set up by Rogers, before heading in his second goal from a corner to take his international total to 91.
The goals extended a landmark evening for Kane, who reached 125 England appearances and moved level with Shilton at the top of the country’s all-time appearance list.
The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony will be held in London on 26 October. Kane is regarded as one of the leading candidates for the prize, alongside France forward Kylian Mbappe and Spain winger Lamine Yamal.
Bellingham’s comments came after another influential display from his England team-mate, while Rogers argued that Kane’s record of scoring for Bayern and England, together with his performances at the World Cup, made him deserving of the game’s most prestigious individual award.
