Former Al Ahly and Egypt international Mohamed Amara has revealed advice he gave Hossam Hassan at the start of his tenure as Egypt head coach amid reports of tension between the coach and Mohamed Salah.
Amara said he urged Hassan to travel to England and meet Salah in person to clear up any misunderstandings and prevent outside influences from damaging their relationship.
According to Amara, the advice came when Salah was still playing for Liverpool and reports had emerged of possible friction between the Egypt captain and the newly appointed national team coach.

“I told Hossam Hassan to buy a ticket and travel to England and sit with Mohamed Salah, and not to let social media cause a rift between you and him,” Amara said in a television interview.
The former Al Ahly star also warned Hassan against allowing people with vested interests to influence his relationship with Salah.
“Don’t let people who have vested interests in your relationship with Salah not be good get what they want. Travel and listen to me,” Amara recalled telling the coach.
However, Amara said Hassan rejected the suggestion, explaining that the former Egypt striker viewed himself as a national football legend and did not believe he needed to make the trip.
“He told me no, because he sees himself as a legend and wouldn’t do that,” Amara said.
According to Amara, Hassan instead felt that Salah should return to Egypt and that their relationship would naturally improve with time.
“He told me, ‘Why shouldn’t I travel? He should come and stay, and things will take their natural course and distances will shorten,’” Amara recalled.
The comments offer an insight into the early relationship between Hassan and Salah, with Amara suggesting that he believed direct communication could have helped prevent misunderstandings between the two figures.
