Luka Modric has more national-team caps than any other player yet to win a major international trophy, according to a ranking published by Transfermarkt.
The Croatia midfielder tops the list with 203 appearances for his country. Poland captain Robert Lewandowski is second on 169 caps, while Latvia’s Vitalijs Astafjevs completes the top three with 168.
Modric’s Croatia team-mate Ivan Perisic is fourth, having represented his country 159 times. He shares that total with Estonia’s Konstantin Vassiljev.
Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen is next on 157 caps, followed by Estonia’s Martin Rehim, also on 157. Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka is eighth with 152 appearances.
Bosnia and Herzegovina striker Edin Dzeko and Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen occupy ninth and 10th place respectively, both having won 151 caps.
Sweden’s Anders Svensson is 11th on 147 appearances, while Ireland’s Robbie Keane follows with 146.
The final three places in the top 15 are held by Switzerland’s Ricardo Rodriguez, Ukraine’s Anatoliy Tymoshchuk and Sweden’s Thomas Ravelli. Rodriguez has 145 caps, Tymoshchuk 144 and Ravelli 143.
