Ivory Coast forward Karim Konaté is attracting interest from several European clubs after impressing for Red Bull Salzburg, with Borussia Dortmund among those monitoring his situation.
The 22-year-old has emerged as a player of interest to clubs in both the Bundesliga and Premier League because of his performances, pace and attacking qualities.
Dortmund are closely following Konaté as they assess the possibility of adding the Salzburg forward to their squad.
Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt are also reported to be monitoring the Ivorian, while Premier League sides Sunderland and Nottingham Forest are among the English clubs keeping track of his progress.
Other Premier League clubs are also understood to have shown interest in the player through his representatives at Unique Sports Group.
Despite the growing interest, there have been no formal negotiations between Salzburg and any of the clubs considering a move for Konaté.
The interested sides are continuing their assessment through scouting reports, video analysis and statistical information.
Some initial contact has been made through the player’s representatives, but no official discussions have taken place between Salzburg and the potential suitors.
As a result, a transfer during the next winter window remains a possibility, although there is currently no agreement in place for the forward to leave Austria.
Konaté remains under contract with Red Bull Salzburg until 30 June 2028 and continues to be regarded as an important part of the Austrian club’s attacking setup.
Salzburg would ideally like to retain the Ivorian until the end of the current season. However, the club could consider selling him if its financial expectations are met and a suitable replacement can be secured.
The Austrian club have reportedly placed a valuation of between €20m and €25m on Konaté.
That figure is considerably higher than his current estimated market value of €12m.
The difference between Salzburg’s reported asking price and Transfermarkt’s valuation could therefore become an important factor if any of the interested clubs decide to make a formal approach.
For now, Konaté remains a Salzburg player, with his long-term contract giving the club a strong position as interest from elsewhere continues to grow.
Dortmund are one of the clubs reportedly paying close attention to Konaté’s development.
RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt are also monitoring the forward, meaning the competition for his signature could extend beyond one potential Bundesliga destination.
In England, Sunderland and Nottingham Forest have been identified among the clubs tracking the Ivorian, while further Premier League interest has also been reported.
The various clubs are currently at the scouting stage, assessing Konaté’s performances and potential before deciding whether to pursue a transfer.
His continued development at Salzburg could increase interest ahead of the January transfer window, particularly if clubs decide that his performances justify Salzburg’s reported €20m-€25m valuation.
Konaté’s immediate focus, however, remains with Salzburg.
The Austrian club are preparing for their next Bundesliga fixture against Werder Bremen, which will be their fifth league match of the season.
