Lassine Sinayoko has made an impressive start to life at Paris FC after joining from AJ Auxerre this summer in a transfer worth about 8 million euros.
The Mali international has scored four goals and provided one assist in his five appearances for his new club. His form has earned him a nomination for September’s Ligue 1 Player of the Month award, alongside Ferran Torres of Paris SG and Paris Brunner of AS Monaco, who have also scored four times in five matches.
The 25-year-old’s early performances have made him one of the leading scorers in Ligue 1 after the opening five rounds of the season.
Rapid rise at Paris FC
Sinayoko completed his move from AJ Auxerre during the final days of the summer transfer window, but he has needed little time to settle into his new surroundings.
His goalscoring return has continued the progress he has made in recent seasons and has placed him among the division’s most effective forwards.
Tenema N’Diaye, the former Mali and FC Nantes centre-forward, welcomed his compatriot’s fast start in an exclusive interview with Africafoot. N’Diaye, known as “Takisse” – meaning “the ember” in Bambara – said he hoped Sinayoko would maintain his form and score even more goals for Paris FC during the campaign.
Sinayoko came through the AJ Auxerre academy and has already made 104 Ligue 1 appearances during his young career. He has scored 22 goals and supplied 17 assists in that time, underlining the development of a player who has taken on greater responsibility in recent seasons.
He was also AJ Auxerre’s leading scorer in 2025/26, registering 12 goals and four assists in 32 matches.
Key figure for Mali
Sinayoko’s influence extends beyond club football, with the forward also occupying an important role for the Mali national team.
He was Mali’s only goalscorer at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, finding the net three times in five matches. His contribution has continued during the qualifying campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Although he has not scored in the current campaign, Sinayoko supplied the assist for Mali’s goal in their 3-1 victory over Cape Verde in the final round of qualifying fixtures. His involvement in that result further highlighted his importance to the Eagles.
N’Diaye praised the contribution of the younger striker and expressed hope that Sinayoko’s strong start would lead to an even more productive season for both Paris FC and Mali.
Paris FC’s next fixture will come in matchweek six of the French championship against FC Lorient. The quoted odds for the match are 2.48 for a Paris FC win, 3.51 for a draw and 3.04 for a victory for FC Lorient.
