Luis de la Fuente has rejected lucrative approaches from clubs and national teams because he remains committed to coaching Spain until 2032, according to his agent.
Alvaro Torres, De la Fuente’s representative at Gers, said interest in the coach increased after Spain’s match against France, but the offers were not seriously considered.
“Representing Luis de la Fuente is an honor and a great responsibility. However, working with him is very easy because he is open to advice, a good listener, and trusts my judgment,” Torres told EFE.
“This was the case when we renewed his contract with the Royal Spanish Football Federation.”
Torres said several clubs and national teams had shown interest following the Euro, with attention increasing after the France fixture.
“After the Euro, several clubs and national teams expressed interest, and this interest intensified after the match against France,” he said.
“We received these offers, but we didn’t seriously consider them because Luis wants to continue coaching the Spanish national team.”
EFE reported that offers from the Arab world could have been worth as much as four times De la Fuente’s current salary with the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The specific figures involved were not disclosed.
De la Fuente’s agent also described the coach as receptive to advice and said their relationship had made negotiations over his contract renewal straightforward.
