CAF President Motsepe has broken his silence after the ruling that saw Morocco win the 2025 Afcon at the detriment of Senegal.
Speaking 24 hours after the chaotic incident, Motsepe says CAF will adhere and respect any decision taken by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Senegal have opted to refer the incident to CAS. who are an independent ruling body for its verdict.
The CAF Disciplinary Committee took one decision. The CAF Appeals board took a totally different decision he said.
Senegal, who won the 2025 Afcin after storming off after 10 minutes in the final against Morocco have vehemently stated that they did not forfeit the game and seek to get to the bottom of the issue.
“We will adhere and respect the decision taken at the highest level (CAS)”
CAF has come under immense scrutiny after the incidents unfolded, with many questioning Africa’s football governing body while other football experts have labelled it as embarrassing.
A ruling from CAS on the 2025 Afcon final is expected to be provided in 9 months.
Senegal remain adamant of their championship win, reluctant to relinquish the trophy.
The Teranga Lions are expected to Paraade the trophy around before their international friendly game against Peru on March 28.
