MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Sundowns sells out at Moses Mabhida Stadium

The MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns has sold out, although the match will not use every seat at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The venue has a standard seating capacity of 56 000, but the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that tickets for Saturday’s final are no longer available.

Kick-off is scheduled for 18:00 on 10 October, with the fixture set to recreate the 2023 MTN8 final, which was also played at the Durban stadium.

It will be the 11th MTN8 final hosted by Moses Mabhida Stadium, according to The South African.

Thekwini Municipality City Manager Musa Mbhele has previously said there are no bribes involved in the decision over which venue hosts the finals.

Sundowns will return to the stadium seeking to erase the memory of their 2023 defeat by Orlando Pirates. The match will be only their third MTN8 final at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

They have won one of their previous two finals at the venue, beating Cape Town City in 2021, but lost to Pirates in 2023.

Sundowns were involved in a penalty shoot-out in both of those finals. Pirates, meanwhile, have won three of the seven MTN8 finals they have played at Moses Mabhida Stadium within 90 minutes.
