Dani Olmo rejected Bayern Munich on two occasions before joining Barcelona, according to his agent Marc Bara.
The Spain international moved to Barcelona from RB Leipzig ahead of the 2024-25 campaign and has since scored 20 goals and provided 18 assists in 96 appearances for the Catalan club.
Olmo has helped Barcelona win two LaLiga titles, two Supercopas de Espana and one Copa del Rey. He also won the World Cup with La Roja this summer after leaving RB Leipzig.
Since the beginning of the 2024-25 season, the 2026-27 campaign included, Olmo has made the sixth-highest direct contribution to Barcelona goals, with 38. He has also created 116 chances, the fourth-highest total among the club’s players.
Hansi Flick’s side have made an unblemished start to 2026-27, winning all eight of their matches in every competition. Olmo has contributed three assists during that run.
Bayern showed interest in Olmo while he was still playing for Dinamo Zagreb, and then made another attempt when he was a Leipzig player. Barcelona were among the clubs interested before his eventual move to Camp Nou.
Bara said the decision to reject Bayern during Olmo’s time at Dinamo was his recommendation.
“He rejected Bayern on my initiative when he was at Dinamo. I told him: you need to take another step, and that’s what happened,” Bara told the Inkubator podcast.
“Later, he received another offer from Bayern as a Leipzig player, and Barcelona and other clubs were also interested.
“We chose Barcelona, which perhaps wasn’t the best choice, but everything worked out for him afterwards.
“He won the European Championship, the Nations League, the World Cup, and is one of the ten best players in the national team.
“His story is like a movie, and I’m happy to have been part of it.”
Barcelona will aim to maintain their perfect record when they host Getafe after the international break.
They also face a demanding month, with a Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain and a LaLiga fixture against Real Madrid still to come.
