Frenkie de Jong is expected to resume team training with Barcelona next week as he continues his recovery from a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee.
The 29-year-old midfielder has been sidelined since the summer, after the Netherlands were eliminated from the World Cup. His return to competitive action will depend on how his knee responds to the increased workload involved in joining group sessions, according to journalist Laia Tudel.
Barcelona are scheduled to host Getafe on 10 October in the eighth round of La Liga. Hans-Dieter Flick’s side currently sit top of the table with a 100% record, having collected 21 points.
