Beppe Riso says Davide Frattesi had to leave Inter because he was no longer receiving enough playing time, with the midfielder now enjoying a productive start to life at Lazio.
Frattesi completed his move to Lazio after months of efforts to secure a transfer away from Inter. The midfielder has responded by scoring three goals in five Serie A games.
Riso, who represents both Frattesi and Carlos Augusto, said the lack of opportunities at Inter had affected his client deeply.
“The move to Lazio came about because Frattesi wasn’t playing and simply couldn’t remain at Inter in those conditions,” Riso told Colpi da Maestro on Sport Mediaset.
“He is a lad with an incredible heart and enormous passion, but he looked so sad and as if a light had gone out within him. We had tried to do something for a few sessions, but Inter did not want to be deprived of the player.”
Riso added that Frattesi had other options when Lazio made their approach during the summer, but the player chose the move because he wanted a more prominent role.
“Lazio turned up this summer, he could’ve gone to a different club, but this was his choice because he wanted to feel like a protagonist,” he said.
“After his transfer, I saw the smile on his face and that was worth everything to me.”
The agent’s strained relationship with Inter has not eased, with a separate disagreement now involving Carlos Augusto.
The Brazilian defender joined Inter from Monza in 2023. He initially arrived on loan before the transfer was made permanent for €15.25m, and his current contract runs until June 2028.
When Riso was asked to rank several transfers from his career on a scale of one to 10, he placed Carlos Augusto’s move in last place.
“I put him there because I am furious with Inter. But they already know that,” he said.
