Tickets for the HSBC SVNS Cape Town Sevens will return to pre-Covid-19 prices when sales open at 09:00 on Friday, 2 October.
The tournament will be held at Cape Town Stadium on 5 and 6 December, with the Springbok Sevens team aiming to win the Cape Town title for a third consecutive year.
South Africa’s men won last season’s HSBC SVNS Series and World Championship and will headline two days of rugby featuring the leading male and female sevens players in the world.
Prices have been reduced by between 17% and 28%, depending on the ticket category. Unreserved seating across the stadium’s second tier is available for R180, while the best seats cost R500 for a full day of action.
The published ticket categories are:
– Category A: R600, west and east lower tier, on the halfway line
– Category B: R450, west and east lower tier, 10m-line towards the corners
– Category C: R350, north and south lower tier, Party and Family stands
– Category D: R250, levels two and three, unreserved seating
– Disabled: R450, including entry for a disabled person and partner
SA Rugby chief executive Rian Oberholzer said the aim was to attract a full stadium for what he described as South Africa’s biggest party.
“We want to fill the stadium once again for South Africa’s biggest party,” he said.
“We can promise two days of top-class action as well as the unique experience the Cape Town Sevens offers with music and entertainment for people of all ages to enjoy.
“We’ve seen the Blitzboks win the World Championship in the past two seasons and this is the annual chance to see the boys turn on the style on home turf.”
Alongside the rugby, the event will feature music, dance, comedy, food and culture, continuing its combination of sport and entertainment.
“It’s a special celebration and we hope people will come along with their friends in their fancy dress to enjoy the rugby, the weather, the entertainment, the food and the drink,” Oberholzer added.
“It’ll be two, action-packed days, with the Blitzboks as the stars of the show as they look to achieve the remarkable feat of taking the new world champions crown for a third year in a row.”
Tickets are available only through www.springboks.tmtickets.co.za. Oberholzer urged supporters to avoid unofficial resellers after fans at the last Cape Town rugby event were denied entry despite purchasing tickets through unofficial channels.
“We repeat our advice – as we do before every national rugby event – to please only purchase through official channels or risk losing your money as well as being excluded from the event,” he said.
