Kaizer Chiefs face a congested October programme that combines Betway Premiership action with a CAF Confederation Cup tie against Zambia’s Red Arrows, before the month concludes with the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.
The Glamour Boys are currently scheduled to play four matches during the month, although the domestic fixture against Stellenbosch FC clashes with their continental commitments and is expected to be rearranged.
Chiefs’ October campaign is due to begin on 17 October, when they are listed to play Stellenbosch FC in the Betway Premiership at 15:30. That match is scheduled for the same day as the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup second qualifying-round tie away to Red Arrows in Zambia.
The kick-off time for the match in Zambia has not yet been confirmed. Reports indicate that Kaizer Chiefs are expected to announce that they will face Red Arrows on 17 October, with the Stellenbosch FC match then moved to another date.
The continental tie will return to South Africa on 24 October, when Amakhosi host Red Arrows in the second leg. The two matches will determine whether Kaizer Chiefs advance to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Their final fixture of the month is one of the most anticipated matches in the domestic calendar.
On Saturday, 31 October at 15:30, Orlando Pirates will host Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby. The match will come only a week after the second leg against Red Arrows, creating a demanding test for Khumalo’s team.
The timing of the derby means Chiefs will need to manage their squad carefully across the month. Their schedule includes continental travel, two matches against Red Arrows and two major Betway Premiership fixtures, with the Stellenbosch FC meeting still needing to be rescheduled.
Kaizer Chiefs’ October fixtures
