Germany and Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck has left the national team’s training camp after suffering an ankle injury, according to Bild.
The injury occurred during a training exercise involving four separate squares. As players worked with the ball, Schlotterbeck accidentally moved out of his allocated area and into another, where he collided with Finn Jeltsch.
Schlotterbeck fell in the incident and injured his ankle as he landed. The circumstances of the injury were described as unusual and accidental.
The defender has now returned from Germany’s camp and will definitely miss the team’s upcoming Nations League matches.
However, Schlotterbeck will not require surgery for the injury.
