End of an era: Salah to reveal new club within days

Mohamed Salah is expected to announce his next club in the coming days following confirmation that he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the current season, bringing an end to a highly successful nine-year spell at Anfield.

The 33-year-old forward is understood to be keen to resolve his club future swiftly in order to focus fully on preparations with the Egyptian national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be staged across the United States, Mexico and Canada.

End of an era at Anfield

Salah’s departure marks the conclusion of one of the most prolific careers in Liverpool’s modern history. Since joining from AS Roma in 2017 for a reported fee of €42 million, he has made 440 appearances in all competitions, scoring 257 goals and providing 222 assists.

During his time at the club, Salah played a central role in delivering major honours, including two Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League triumph, cementing his status as one of the most influential players of his generation and among the league’s all-time greats.

Injury raises concerns ahead of World Cup

Despite expectations of a celebratory farewell in Liverpool’s final fixtures of the season, Salah’s campaign was cut short after he suffered a hamstring injury during a victory over Crystal Palace. The setback has raised concerns over his availability for Egypt’s upcoming international commitments, including the 2026 World Cup.

The timing of the injury has added urgency to decisions around his immediate future, as both club and country considerations come into play.

Decision imminent amid global interest

According to Mohamed Murad, Salah is close to making a final decision regarding his next destination. The forward has reportedly attracted significant interest from clubs in Italy and France, as well as high-profile offers from teams in Saudi Arabia and the United States.

Murad said: “Whatever team Salah chooses to play for, we will support him, especially since he has received many offers recently, whether from Italy, France and other big teams around the world, in addition to offers from Saudi Arabia. It is logical, as he is a big star and will be a valuable addition to any team he plays for.”

Agent urges caution over speculation

Amid widespread speculation, Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas has previously called for restraint in discussions about the player’s future. In a social media post last March, he warned against relying on unverified reports.

He said: “We don’t know where Mohamed will play next season, and nobody knows that. Beware of fame-seekers.”

Focus shifts to international ambitions

With a decision expected imminently, attention is likely to turn quickly to Salah’s role with Egypt as they prepare for the global tournament in 2026. His experience and leadership will be central to the team’s ambitions, provided he recovers in time from his recent injury.

Uncertain next chapter

As Salah prepares to close one chapter of his career, anticipation continues to build over where he will play next. With interest spanning multiple continents and competitions, his decision is expected to have significant implications both on and off the pitch.
