Al Ahly have provided Egypt with an update on defender Ibrahim’s injury as the Pharaohs prepare for the start of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Egypt are due to regroup during the upcoming international break before travelling to face Angola on September 25 and hosting South Sudan four days later on September 29.
Ibrahim is currently undergoing rehabilitation after sustaining an injury to the medial and lateral ligaments of his ankle.
The Al Ahly defender has undergone fresh medical examinations to determine the progress of his recovery and provide a clearer indication of when he could return to full fitness.
Al Ahly medical chief Dr Ahmed Gaballah has also been in direct contact with Egypt national team doctor Mohamed Abu El-Ela regarding the player’s condition.
Gaballah shared the results of Ibrahim’s latest examinations and provided an update on his rehabilitation as the club and national team medical departments coordinate his recovery.
The defender’s availability for Egypt’s September qualifiers will depend on how he responds to treatment in the coming days and the assessment of the national team’s medical staff.
His situation will therefore be monitored closely as Egypt prepare to begin their qualification campaign.
The Pharaohs have been drawn in Group B alongside Angola, South Sudan and Malawi, with the upcoming fixtures marking the beginning of their journey towards the 2027 AFCON finals.
For now, Egypt will wait for further medical assessments before determining whether Ibrahim can join the squad and contribute to the opening qualifiers.
