Egyptian Premier League club Al Masry SC have appointed Ahmed Samy as their new head coach following the departure of Emad El-Nahas after only three matches of the 2026-27 league campaign.
The Port Said-based club announced Samy’s appointment on Wednesday through their official social media platforms, welcoming the experienced Egyptian coach to the “City of Eagles.”
“We are pleased to welcome Captain Ahmed Samy as the new head coach of our team. Welcome to the City of Eagles,” the club said.
Samy takes over despite Masry making a strong start to the new Egyptian Premier League season.
The club opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Smouha before recording another win, this time a 3-2 triumph against Arab Contractors.
Their perfect start came to an end in the third round when they suffered defeat against Pyramids FC, prompting the club to part ways with El-Nahas and move quickly to appoint his replacement.
The 53-year-old Samy brings considerable experience of managing in Egypt’s top flight. He has previously worked with Smouha, Ceramica Cleopatra and Modern Sport FC, giving him extensive knowledge of the league and its demands.
His immediate task will be to build on Masry’s promising start and maintain the club’s competitiveness as the season progresses.
Samy will have little time to settle into the role, with his first match already scheduled.
Al Masry are set to host Petrojet SC on September 7 in the fourth round of the Egyptian Premier League, giving the new coach his first opportunity to assess his squad and begin implementing his ideas.
The appointment also marks another managerial change early in the Egyptian top-flight season, with Masry hoping Samy can provide stability and guide the club towards a successful campaign.
