Barcelona forward Gabriel Jesus says he is not offended by suggestions that he was considered a reserve option to strengthen the club’s attack.
The Brazil international responded to discussion surrounding his move after Barcelona officially announced the transfer on 1 September. Jesus has signed a contract with the Catalan club that runs until the summer of 2029.
Speaking about the perception that he was not Barcelona’s first choice, Jesus said: “It doesn’t offend me when they say that I was Plan B.”
His comments address the central talking point surrounding his arrival at Barcelona. Rather than focusing on the idea that he may have been viewed as an alternative signing, the forward made clear that the description does not upset him.
