Paris Saint-Germain recovered from another two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Lille in the second round of Ligue 1, with Vitinha and Marquinhos scoring in stoppage time to prevent a second successive defeat or draw from slipping away.
Luis Enrique, PSG’s head coach, commented on the result after a match in which his side once again had to produce a late fightback. The Paris club had already drawn 2-2 with Rennes in the opening round, recovering two goals in the closing stages on that occasion as well.
Lille looked set to claim the points after moving 2-0 ahead by the 84th minute. The Dogues appeared to have put themselves in a commanding position, leaving PSG with very little time to respond.
However, the visitors refused to accept defeat. Vitinha reduced the deficit in the 91st minute, giving PSG renewed hope in stoppage time. Four minutes later, Marquinhos completed the recovery by scoring the equaliser in the 95th minute.
The late goals secured a point for PSG but extended a difficult start to their Ligue 1 campaign. They have now drawn both of their first two matches by the same scoreline, 2-2, after conceding two goals before finding a response at the end of each game.
Against Rennes, PSG also needed a late recovery after falling two goals behind. The draw with Lille followed a similar pattern, although this time the decisive equaliser came even later, with Marquinhos scoring in the fifth minute of added time.
The result means Luis Enrique’s team remain without a win after two rounds of Ligue 1. Their latest performance again highlighted their ability to recover under pressure, but also left them having to settle for another draw after conceding twice.
Lille, meanwhile, were within minutes of beating PSG after holding a 2-0 lead until the 84th minute. The Dogues could not maintain that advantage, as PSG’s late response changed the outcome in the final moments.
Vitinha’s goal in the 91st minute was the first step in the comeback, while Marquinhos’s strike four minutes later completed a dramatic conclusion. PSG’s players had been facing defeat, but their reaction in stoppage time preserved a second consecutive 2-2 draw at the beginning of the Ligue 1 season.
