Al Ahly hit by four key absences ahead of Pyramids clash

Al Ahly are facing a significant selection headache ahead of their high-stakes Premier League encounter against Pyramids FC on April 27, with four key players ruled out of the crucial fixture.

The clash, set to take place at the Air Defense Stadium, comes at a decisive point in the 2025/26 title race, making the absences a major concern for head coach Yce Torop.

Among the most notable absentees is captain and first-choice goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, who remains suspended after receiving a red card in the match against Ceramica Cleopatra. His absence continues to leave a leadership and experience gap at the back for the defending champions.

In addition, attacking winger Hussein El Shahat will miss the game due to accumulated yellow cards, depriving the team of one of their key offensive outlets.

Defensive concerns are also mounting, with Karim Fouad sidelined through injury, while Yelsin Kamwes has been left out of the technical plans, further limiting squad depth.

These absences come at a time when every point is critical. Zamalek SC currently lead the league standings with 46 points, while both Pyramids and Al Ahly sit just behind on 44 points. However, Al Ahly have played more matches, adding extra pressure to secure a positive result.

For Pyramids, the fixture represents a major opportunity to gain an advantage in the title race, especially with momentum potentially shifting depending on their result against Zamalek prior to this encounter.

For Al Ahly, the challenge is clear: find reliable replacements, maintain tactical balance, and avoid dropping points in a game that could define their season.
