Palmeiras have unveiled a new third kit for the 2026-27 season that pays tribute to Italy’s 2006 World Cup triumph and the Brazilian club’s origins as a team founded by Italian immigrants.
The shirt, produced by Puma, is predominantly “Mediterranean blue” – a colour strongly associated with the Italy national team. Its design draws on the kit worn by Italy during their victorious 2006 World Cup campaign, while incorporating symbols from Palmeiras’ own history.
Palmeiras were established in Sao Paulo in 1914 by Italian immigrants and originally played under the name Palestra Italia. Italian culture remains a central part of the club’s identity, and the new shirt is intended to bring together that heritage with memories of Italy’s fourth World Cup success.
The design is based on the classic blue template Puma created for Italy at the 2006 tournament. On the chest is the historic Savoy Cross emblem, taken from Palestra Italia’s 1916 kit. It is topped by a red star and placed alongside a golden Puma logo.
Gold is used throughout the shirt to add contrast to the blue base. The chest sponsor’s logo, player names and squad numbers all appear in gold, giving the kit a retro appearance while reinforcing its commemorative theme.
A specially designed badge featuring a map of Italy has been added to the lower hem. The collar carries the historical phrase “Scoppia che la vittoria e nostra”, another reference to the club’s Italian roots and the cultural meaning behind the design.
Rather than reproducing Italy’s 2006 World Cup shirt, Palmeiras have combined elements of that national-team kit with features from their own past. The result is intended to connect “memories of the Italian national team” with “Palmeiras’ Italian heritage”.
Italy won the 2006 World Cup after beating France on penalties in the final in Berlin. It was their fourth World Cup title and remains the national team’s most recent triumph in the competition.
With the 20th anniversary of that victory approaching, the decision to use Italy’s 2006 success as inspiration gives the Palmeiras shirt additional significance. The club’s history and the national team’s most celebrated modern achievement are reflected in the same design.
The new Palmeiras third kit will be worn officially for the first time in the team’s match against Vasco da Gama. Both player and fan versions are currently available.
