Cameroon have the strongest representation in the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 Team of the Tournament, with four players included in the 4-3-3 line-up announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday.
The selection was released four days after the final and also includes two players each from Algeria, Morocco and Malawi, while Zambia provide the remaining representative.
African champions Cameroon are represented by goalkeeper Michaely Bihina, defender Myriam Nyadjou, midfielder Monique Ngock and forward Marie Ngah Manga. The team is managed by Cameroon head coach Valentine Nguele.
Bihina was named the tournament’s best goalkeeper after helping Cameroon claim the title. Nyadjou is selected at right centre-back after scoring a spectacular 30-metre goal in Cameroon’s 1-0 quarter-final victory over Nigeria.
Ngock, who was voted the best player of the tournament, operates as the left-sided central midfielder. Ngah Manga leads the attack after scoring twice in the final. She finished as one of the joint top scorers of the competition with five goals.
Algeria and Morocco each have two players in the side after both nations were eliminated in the semi-finals.
Algeria, who won the bronze medal for the first time in their history, are represented by left-back Ines Belloumou and captain Marine Dafeur. Belloumou occupies the left side of the defence, while Dafeur is selected as the right-sided central midfielder.
Morocco finished fourth and have Nohaila Benzina at left centre-back, with Hanane Ait El Haj chosen at right-back. Ait El Haj was the tournament’s leading provider of assists, creating four goals.
Surprise finalists Malawi also have two players in the line-up. Tabitha Chawinga is selected on the left wing, while her sister Temwa Chawinga plays as the attacking midfielder at the top of the midfield triangle.
The Chawinga sisters were among the leading scorers at the tournament. Tabitha finished second in the scoring standings with four goals, while Temwa was one of the joint leading scorers with five.
The inclusion of Zambia forward Barbra Banda is the most unexpected choice in the team. Banda is named on the right wing despite Zambia, known as the Copper Queens, being eliminated during the group stage.
The CAF selection therefore reflects the performances of the champions and finalists, while also recognising standout individual displays from Algeria, Morocco and Zambia. Cameroon’s four representatives make them the most prominent nation in the official tournament line-up, with their players covering goalkeeper, defence, midfield and attack.
