Ellyes Skhiri is close to rejoining 1. FC Koln after the Bundesliga club reached a full agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt over the Tunisia midfielder, according to reports in Germany.
Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg said Skhiri has given the green light to return to the club he represented between 2019 and 2023. The proposed transfer is worth €1m, with additional performance-related payments also included.
Skhiri is due to undergo his medical on Thursday before signing a contract with 1. FC Koln until 2028 on Friday, provided the final stages of the move are completed successfully.
Plettenberg reported on social media:
🚨💥 Ellyes Skhiri back to 1. FC Koln – DONE DEAL ✔️Full agreement reached with Eintracht Frankfurt following@Mr_Frankynatorand green light from Skhiri.Been told the transfer fee is €1m + add-ons. Deal is pending medical, which is scheduled for today, and contract signing…pic.twitter.com/HkWNKkH3hZ1
The move would bring Skhiri back to 1. FC Koln three years after he left the club. During his previous spell, he made 118 appearances and scored 17 goals between 2019 and 2023.
He joined Eintracht Frankfurt as a free agent after departing 1. FC Koln. However, Frankfurt have opened the door to his departure this summer after he fell out of the first-team plans.
A return to Koln would give the club an experienced midfielder with extensive knowledge of German football. Skhiri has played more than 200 Bundesliga matches during his career and is also an established international with Tunisia, known as the Carthage Eagles.
The midfielder’s experience could be particularly valuable to 1. FC Koln as they seek to strengthen their squad for the new Bundesliga campaign. The transfer remains subject to the medical examination and the formal signing of the contract, despite the reported agreement between all parties.
The material accompanying the report also referred to Barcelona coverage, including a headline stating that Garcia was a spectator while Hamza demanded his opportunity, alongside Sport’s ratings of Barcelona’s players against Al Ahly. Another linked item was a video report alleging violence at Camp Nou, with Catalan police removing Al Ahly supporters from the stadium.
