Burkina Faso international Hassane Rachid Traoré has left domestic football to begin his first European adventure after signing for Romanian top-flight club Farul Constanța.
The 19-year-old left-back has moved from USFA, who compete in Burkina Faso’s Fasofoot Ligue 1, and has agreed a contract with Farul running until the summer of 2029.
The move represents a significant step in Traoré’s young career, as he prepares to test himself outside Burkina Faso for the first time.
Farul Constanța announced the signing on its Instagram account, confirming the arrival of the Burkina Faso defender as the Romanian club strengthens its squad with a player who has already gained international recognition.
Traoré was developed in Burkina Faso and played for Bobo Sports before moving to USFA.
His progress in the domestic league was enough to earn recognition from the Burkina Faso national team, with the young full-back receiving a call-up to the Stallions while still playing his club football at home.
His move to Romania now gives him the opportunity to continue that development in the SuperLiga, the country’s top division.
For Traoré, the transfer is also a first taste of European football. Having spent his formative years in Burkina Faso, he will now have to adapt to a new country, league and football environment as he attempts to establish himself at Farul.
The defender has welcomed the move and said his early impressions of the club have strengthened his belief that he made the right decision.
“I am very happy to have joined Farul. This is my first experience abroad and I am convinced I made the right choice. I have been able to discover the facilities, the training base and the working conditions, and everything is truly exceptional.”
Traoré’s arrival comes at an important stage of his development. At 19, he is moving from Burkina Faso’s domestic league into a European top-flight environment, where he will look to build on the progress that earned him international recognition.
The left-back’s ability to earn a place in the Stallions set-up while playing in the Burkinabe league had already marked him out as one of the country’s emerging young defenders. His move to Farul could now provide another platform for him to develop his game and gain experience at a higher level.
The Romanian club’s decision to hand him a deal until 2029 also provides Traoré with a long-term opportunity to establish himself in European football.
For Burkina Faso, the transfer is another opportunity for a young international to gain experience outside the country and potentially strengthen the national team’s options in the future.
Traoré will now turn his attention to settling into life at Farul Constanța and competing for a regular place in the Romanian side.
