Onuachu urges focus as Galatasaray extend lead in Turkey

Galatasaray strengthened their position at the top of the Turkish Super Lig after securing a 3-1 victory away at Goztepe, opening up a four-point lead with six matches remaining in the season, leaving Paul Onuachu wondering.

The result places them ahead of closest challengers Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce, intensifying the pressure on their rivals as the campaign approaches its decisive final weeks.

Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu, currently the league’s leading scorer with 22 goals, has responded to the development by stressing the importance of maintaining focus rather than dwelling on the points gap.

“Actually, without making too many comments, we need to win our matches and keep going,” he said while speaking at a fan autograph event.

The Nigerian international acknowledged the significance of the current standings but remained measured in his assessment of the title race.

“There’s a four-point difference right now. We still have matches to play. We need to win our matches and then see what happens,” he added.

Galatasaray’s latest win has given them a slight cushion at the top, though the margin remains narrow enough to keep the title contest open. With six rounds of fixtures left, both Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce still have opportunities to close the gap, provided they maintain consistent results.

Onuachu’s individual form has been a key factor in Trabzonspor’s campaign. His 22 goals have made him the most prolific player in the league so far, underlining his importance to the team’s hopes of staying in contention.

Away from the pitch, the striker drew significant attention at a specially organised autograph-signing session attended by large numbers of supporters. Fans began arriving early in the morning, forming long queues outside the venue in anticipation of meeting the player.

The event saw a strong turnout throughout the day, reflecting Onuachu’s popularity among supporters and his impact during the season. The gathering provided an opportunity for fans to interact with the forward as the team prepares for the final stretch of the campaign.

Despite the festive atmosphere at the event, the focus remains firmly on the title race. Galatasaray’s advantage means the chasing teams must now rely not only on their own performances but also on potential slip-ups from the leaders.

For Onuachu and Trabzonspor, the message is clear: consistency will be crucial in the remaining fixtures. While the gap at the top presents a challenge, the striker’s comments suggest belief within the squad that the situation can still change.

As the season enters its closing stages, attention will turn to whether Galatasaray can maintain their lead or if the chasing pack can mount a late push to alter the outcome.
