Juventus have denied reports that they are considering a move for Al Ahly goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir during the current summer transfer window.
The Italian club had been linked with the 26-year-old Egypt international as part of their search for additional options in goal. Reports had suggested Shobeir was among the players being considered after Juventus failed to secure deals for Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.
However, Juventus football director Frederic Massera has rejected those reports, telling WinWin that the club has no plans to pursue the Al Ahly goalkeeper.
“We are not interested in signing this goalkeeper,” Massera said.
The statement effectively ends speculation over a potential move to Turin for Shobeir, at least based on the information provided by Juventus.
Juventus rule out Shobeir move
Juventus have been linked with several goalkeepers as they look to strengthen the position, with negotiations involving Alisson and Martinez reportedly failing to produce an agreement.
That led to reports suggesting Shobeir could become another option for the Italian side.
Massera’s response, however, provides a direct clarification from the Juventus hierarchy and rules out any current interest in signing the Egyptian.
For Shobeir, the situation leaves his immediate future focused on Al Ahly, despite growing interest from elsewhere in Europe.
Al Ahly are attempting to extend the goalkeeper’s contract, which is due to expire at the end of the 2026-27 season.
The Egyptian club have already rejected an offer from Danish side Nordsjælland during the current transfer window. Italian club Como are also reported to have submitted a proposal for the goalkeeper.
Those approaches have placed Shobeir’s future under increased scrutiny, particularly after his performances for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup.
Shobeir’s World Cup performances attract attention
Shobeir played an important role in Egypt’s run to the last 16 of the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The goalkeeper produced one of the standout moments of Egypt’s tournament when he saved penalties from Argentina captain Lionel Messi and Iran forward Mehdi Taremi.
Those saves helped contribute to Egypt’s progress to the knockout stage, increasing the goalkeeper’s profile following the tournament.
At club level, Shobeir has established himself as an experienced member of the Al Ahly squad.
The 26-year-old has made 70 appearances for the Egyptian giants across all competitions. He has kept 38 clean sheets during those matches and conceded 44 goals.
His record includes a significant collection of domestic and continental honours.
Shobeir has won the Egyptian league five times with Al Ahly, while also claiming the African Champions League on three occasions. He has three Egyptian Super Cup titles and four Egyptian Cup triumphs to his name.
He has also won the African, Asian and Pacific Cup once.
Al Ahly face decision over goalkeeper’s future
With Juventus now ruling themselves out, attention is likely to remain on the offers that have actually reached Al Ahly.
Como have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Shobeir, while Nordsjælland have already seen an approach rejected by the Egyptian club.
Al Ahly’s attempts to renew his contract indicate that the club would prefer to retain the goalkeeper, particularly after his contribution to Egypt’s World Cup campaign.
The club will therefore have to balance the possibility of a significant transfer against the need to keep an established goalkeeper within its squad.
Shobeir’s reported market value stands at about €2m, according to the information provided.
At present, however, there is no indication of a Juventus move.
Massera’s comments have provided a clear answer to the speculation linking the Egyptian goalkeeper with the Serie A club, leaving Como and any other interested sides as the more relevant potential destinations.
For Shobeir, his focus now remains on his future with Al Ahly and the ongoing discussions over his contract, as the club considers whether to retain one of its experienced goalkeepers or respond to offers from abroad.
