Egyptian right-back Hossam Hassan joins El Dakhlia on free transfer

Egyptian defender Hossam Hassan has joined El Dakhlia from Baladiya on a free transfer, completing a move that brings the 34-year-old right-back back into the Egyptian top-flight setup.

Hassan made the switch on 15 August 2026 after leaving Baladiya, where he had spent the previous part of his career. The move is his third club change since 2017 and continues a career spent entirely in Egyptian football.

The right-footed defender’s recorded playing return includes 11 Premier League appearances, with two assists. He also featured twice in the Egypt Cup and once in the Egyptian League Cup, giving him 14 appearances across the three competitions and 652 minutes on the pitch.

Hassan joined Baladiya from El Mareekh in November 2020, also on a free transfer. Before that, he had moved from Domyat Club to El Mareekh in July 2017. His arrival at El Dakhlia therefore follows a six-year spell covering the two previous clubs.

At 34, Hassan brings experience at right-back to his new side. His role is defined as a defender on the right flank, with his preferred right foot completing the profile of an established Egyptian full-back.

The transfer also marks a return to El Dakhlia, the club now listed as Hassan’s current team after his departure from Baladiya. No contract length has been disclosed for the move.

Hassan’s transition from Baladiya to El Dakhlia was completed as a free transfer on 15 August 2026.
