Zimbabwe national football team head coach Marian Marinica has announced his squad for the upcoming Four Nations International Tournament to be held in Francistown, Botswana, as preparations continue for international fixtures later this month.
The tournament, which will feature regional sides including Zambia national football team and Malawi national football team, is scheduled to take place towards the end of March. Zimbabwe are expected to play two matches during the competition, on 28 and 31 March, although their specific opponents for those fixtures were not detailed.
The squad named by Marinica blends experience with emerging talent, with several players based in Europe and across Africa included in the selection.
In goal, Zimbabwe have called up Elvis Chipezeze of Magesi FC, alongside Future Sibanda from ZPC Kariba and Marley Tavaziva, who is on the books of English side Brentford.
The defensive unit features a mix of locally-based and international players, including Teenage Hadebe of FC Cincinnati and Munashe Garananga from Hibernian. They are joined by players such as Gerald Takwara, Emmanuel Jalai and Andrew Mbeba, forming a defensive line with a range of experience across different leagues.
In midfield, the squad is anchored by Marvelous Nakamba of Sheffield Wednesday, who is expected to play a key role. He is supported by players including Jonah Fabisch, Bill Antonio and Sean Fusire, offering a mix of creativity and control in the centre of the pitch.
The attacking options include experienced forward Knowledge Musona, alongside Prince Dube and Tawanda Maswanhise. Additional forwards such as Macauley Bonne and Daniel Musendami provide further attacking depth.
The Four Nations tournament is expected to offer Zimbabwe valuable preparation time, allowing the coaching staff to assess player combinations and build cohesion within the squad.
With matches against regional opposition, the competition provides an opportunity for Zimbabwe to test themselves against familiar rivals while also fine-tuning their approach ahead of future international commitments.
Marinica’s selection suggests a focus on balancing established internationals with younger players, as Zimbabwe look to strengthen their squad depth and maintain competitiveness within the COSAFA region.
The upcoming fixtures will offer a clearer indication of how the team is shaping up, as they aim to build momentum through competitive match action in Botswana.
