AS Monaco are reportedly unwilling to sell Senegal midfielder Lamine Camara for less than €60m, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea among the Premier League clubs monitoring his situation.
The French club are believed to have set a price of more than €60m for the 22-year-old, despite growing interest from England.
Reports from France suggest Monaco could reject an offer worth €60m because they want Camara to remain at the club for at least another season. The Principality side believe another year of development could increase the player’s value further.
Liverpool are understood to be among the clubs interested in the midfielder, while Manchester United and Chelsea are also keeping track of his progress.
According to reports from France via @Sport_Witness, Liverpool are interested in signing the Lamine Camara. Monaco are unwilling to approve his departure. The report further confirms that even an offer of €60 million would be INSUFFICIENT to sign the player.
Monaco’s position follows their reported decision to reject a bid from Crystal Palace worth about €35m.
That rejection has provided a clear indication of the club’s valuation of Camara and means interested Premier League sides may have to commit significantly more money if they want to prise him away.
Camara has a contract with Monaco that runs until June 2029, leaving the club in a strong negotiating position. With three years remaining on his current deal, Monaco are under no immediate pressure to sell and can instead wait for offers that match their expectations.
The midfielder joined Monaco from Metz in 2024 for a reported fee of about €15m.
Since moving to the Principality, Camara has developed into an important player for the club. His performances have also helped him maintain his importance at international level with Senegal.
His development has now attracted significant attention from some of England’s biggest clubs.
Camara’s versatility is understood to be one of the qualities making him an appealing target. He can contribute defensively by disrupting opposition attacks, while also possessing the ability to carry the ball forward and help his team progress up the pitch.
That combination has made him an attractive option for Premier League clubs searching for midfielders capable of performing more than one role.
Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are all reported to be watching developments surrounding the player, but Monaco’s current stance means a straightforward move is unlikely.
The club’s preference is to retain Camara for another season rather than accept an offer below their valuation. Monaco’s management appear confident that continued performances from the Senegal international could increase his market value.
The rejection of Crystal Palace’s reported €35m proposal has already demonstrated the level of investment Monaco expect.
For Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea, any attempt to sign Camara is therefore likely to require a substantially larger financial commitment.
At 22, Camara also has significant time to continue developing. His long-term contract gives Monaco the freedom to remain patient, while his growing reputation with both club and country strengthens their position.
For now, Monaco appear determined to keep hold of one of their key midfielders. Any club hoping to change that stance will reportedly need to offer more than €60m.
