Rafael Leao hits back at social media post over Ruben Amorim claims

Rafael Leao has dismissed a report claiming Ruben Amorim views him as a negative influence in the AC Milan dressing room, responding on social media: “You are lying”.

The Portugal international is not particularly active on X, but chose to reply after seeing a post referring to a report published by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The social media report claimed Amorim had concerns about Leao’s influence within the Milan squad and believed the winger was having a negative effect on the atmosphere around the team.

Leao responded: “Maybe because you are lying”, and added three laughing-face emojis to his post.

The 26-year-old is not included in Milan’s squad for today’s friendly against Manchester United. However, his absence is because of a minor injury and is not connected to disciplinary action.

Leao and AC Milan have already spent the summer trying to find a club willing to sign him. So far, the only offers to arrive have come from Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce.

None of those proposals has come close to Milan’s initial valuation of €50m, with a further €10m available in add-ons. As a result, the Rossoneri are preparing to lower their expectations and could allow Leao to leave for €40m.

The dispute comes as uncertainty continues over the Portugal winger’s future at Milan. The club has been seeking a buyer, while the available interest from Turkey has not yet matched the asking price that was originally set.

Leao’s public response directly challenged the account that Amorim had reservations about his conduct and influence in the squad. His reply was brief, but it rejected the description of his position inside the dressing room.

For now, his absence from the meeting with Manchester United has been explained by fitness rather than any disagreement with the manager or club. The player’s future remains unresolved, with Milan apparently ready to accept a lower fee than the figure it first demanded.
