Olympique de Marseille have not opened official negotiations with Adem Zorgane or his representatives, despite reports suggesting the club are preparing a move for the Algeria international.
The 26-year-old midfielder has emerged as a name linked with Marseille during the transfer window, with his profile understood to fit the club’s requirements in midfield. However, according to information reported by Maghreb-Foot, there has been no formal contact between the French club and the player’s entourage at this stage.
That clarification means any potential interest from Olympique de Marseille should not be interpreted as evidence that a transfer is currently being negotiated. Reports of a possible approach had gathered pace in recent days, particularly after Union Saint-Gilloise were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds.
Zorgane is believed to be open to a move following that result, but the situation remains less advanced than some reports had suggested. No official discussions have yet been launched, and there is no indication that Olympique de Marseille have submitted an offer for the player.
Zorgane joined Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer of 2025 after leaving Charleroi. He remains under contract with the Belgian club until 30 June 2029, meaning Union Saint-Gilloise are under no immediate pressure to sell.
His position could still change during the current transfer window, particularly if a substantial offer reaches the club’s directors. Zorgane’s market value is estimated at €12m, while Union Saint-Gilloise are reported to have set an asking price of between €12m and €15m.
That valuation could prove significant for Marseille as they assess their options in midfield. At present, however, the Algerian’s name is circulating as a possible target rather than as part of an active transfer operation.
Olympique de Marseille are preparing for the opening round of the French championship, when they will face Strasbourg. The match is also being accompanied by betting prices from 1xBet, with Olympique de Marseille listed at 1.64 to win, the draw priced at 4.20 and a Strasbourg victory at 4.30.
Those odds reflect Marseille’s status as favourites for the fixture, but they do not alter the current position regarding Zorgane. For now, there is no official negotiation between Olympique de Marseille and the midfielder’s representatives, although a sizeable offer could prompt Union Saint-Gilloise to consider his departure before the transfer window closes.
