Napoli have reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea to sign Benoit Badiashile, with the deal including a €27m option to buy the France centre-back.
Romano has reported the agreement with the words “Here we go!”, signalling that the transfer is at an advanced stage. The arrangement has been agreed between the two clubs, although the terms are described as a verbal understanding.
Napoli will pay Chelsea a €3m loan fee for Badiashile. The deal also includes a further €1m in add-ons, while the Italian club will have the option to make the move permanent for €27m.
Badiashile’s salary will also be covered as part of the agreement. The financial structure therefore consists of the initial loan payment, performance-related additions and a possible future transfer fee.
The arrival of Badiashile would provide Massimiliano Allegri with a new centre-back. The defender is expected to join Napoli initially on loan, with the club retaining the choice over whether to complete a permanent transfer at the end of that arrangement.
The €27m clause is a buy option rather than a compulsory purchase requirement, meaning Napoli will decide whether to activate it. Until then, the agreement allows Badiashile to move from Chelsea on a temporary basis under the terms reached by the clubs.
Chelsea and Napoli have now settled the principal elements of the proposed transfer: the €3m loan fee, €1m in add-ons, the €27m option to buy and coverage of the player’s salary. The deal is therefore in place for Badiashile to become a Napoli player on loan.
The move would bring the France international into Allegri’s squad as the club’s new central defensive addition. For Chelsea, it represents an agreement allowing Badiashile to leave temporarily while preserving Napoli’s option to sign him permanently for the stated fee.
No alternative structure has been reported in the agreement. The proposed transfer remains centred on the loan move, the additional €1m in possible bonuses and the €27m clause that Napoli may choose to use.
