Ndidi injury blow leaves Beşiktaş reeling

Beşiktaş have been dealt a significant setback after midfielder Wilfred Ndidi was ruled out for several weeks with a hamstring injury sustained during a recent league derby.

The Nigerian international was forced off late in the game against Fenerbahçe after experiencing discomfort, raising immediate concerns about his availability for upcoming fixtures. Medical examinations have since confirmed the extent of the injury, leaving the club without one of its key players at a critical stage of the season.

Ndidi was substituted in the 85th minute of the Trendyol Süper Lig encounter after reporting pain in his hamstring. Subsequent tests, including an MRI scan conducted at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital, revealed a strain accompanied by bleeding in the biceps femoris muscle.

Club officials have indicated that the 27-year-old is expected to be sidelined for between two and three weeks as he undergoes treatment and rehabilitation. The timeline means he will miss forthcoming matches against Antalyaspor and Samsunspor.

The absence of Ndidi is likely to be keenly felt by Beşiktaş, given his influential role in midfield. Known for his defensive contributions and ability to break up opposition play, he has been a central figure in the team’s setup this season.

With crucial league fixtures approaching, the coaching staff are now expected to make tactical adjustments to compensate for his absence. The club has not yet confirmed who will step into his role, but the loss of such an experienced player presents a challenge as they aim to maintain momentum in the league.

Ndidi has already begun a recovery programme under the supervision of the club’s medical team. The focus will be on ensuring a full recovery before he returns to action, rather than rushing him back prematurely.

The injury comes at a particularly demanding point in the season, when squad depth is often tested. For Beşiktaş, maintaining consistency without one of their most reliable midfielders will be a key concern in the coming weeks.

Supporters will be hoping for a swift recovery, as the Nigerian international remains an integral part of the team’s ambitions.
